About Me

Here’s the gist — I’m a former cancer researcher, neuroscientist and animal scientist
turned freelance writer. Based in Guelph, Ontario, I help businesses and publications tell compelling stories, in print and online.

Since going freelance in 2010, I’ve written articles, blogs, eBooks, eCourses and case studies for international brands including  Jillian MichaelsVitamix, ASUS, Kroger, OfficeMax Office Depot,  Kellogg’s and Mitsubishi.

Before I started writing, I worked as an animal science and health researcher on a bunch of exciting projects:

  • Investigating how a cancer-causing gene, called spy1, contributes to breast, brain and skin cancers
  • Researching the role of ShcD, a protein, in nerve development and communication, plus its potential role in skin cancer
  • Searching for audio evidence of the possibly-extinct ivory-billed woodpecker in the Florida Panhandle
  • Documenting the symptoms of narcolepsy in horses

Yup, I’m a bit of a learning addict. And that same natural curiosity makes me eager to delve into just about any topic and learn about any field as a writer (though I gravitate toward health and sciencey topics).
